The 7000 is the big round Ambassadeur built for surf casting and light boat work: a wider, deeper version of the classic design that ABU introduced in the 1970s. Period descriptions call it a light surf-casting and boat reel, with a retrieve of about 4-to-1 and room for roughly 260 metres of heavy mono, and it keeps the Ambassadeur's centrifugal brake, star drag and level wind, scaled up for heavier line and sinkers.
In North America it became a salmon, striper and catfish reel. Searches for it are crowded by modern 7000-size models, such as the catfish versions, so check that a listing is a vintage Swedish reel if that is what you want.
Our latest snapshot found about 15 vintage 7000s, with working reels around $75 to $140 delivered. On a big-fish reel the drag matters more than the paint, so a recently serviced reel is worth the premium.
