The short version
We currently earn nothing from the links on this site. Every “View on eBay” and “Search on eBay” link goes straight to the listing or search on eBay, with no affiliate or tracking code added. The few Amazon links (reel grease, service kits) are plain Amazon searches, also untracked. No seller, manufacturer or marketplace pays us for placement.
If that ever changes, for example if we join an affiliate programme, we will update this page and label the links before they go live.
How outbound links are marked
Links to eBay and Amazon open in a new tab and carry rel="nofollow noopener" . That tells search engines we aren't vouching for an individual marketplace listing, and stops the new tab from controlling this one.
Buying picks and listing snapshots
The “Buying guide” picks and the “Live on eBay right now” listings come from a dated review of the active eBay listings for each reel. Picks are chosen on delivered price against the typical asking range, condition and completeness as described, and seller feedback. Overpriced listings and sellers we would double-check are tagged as warnings. Sellers cannot pay to be picked. Each snapshot is dated, and some listings will have ended by the time you read it. See the methodology for how picks are made.
We say so when a model is a poor buy, or when a listing's claims don't match its photos. Nothing in how we make money depends on which reel you buy, or whether you buy one at all.
AI-generated reel photos
Reel pages use a representative product photo generated by an AI image model from real seller photos of that model. It is labelled as such where it appears large. It is not a photo of any listing, and the reel you buy will look different. Judge condition from the seller's own photos. See the methodology for details.
Selling to us
This site is part of allbutnew. The “Have one to sell?” links go to allbutnew's shared offer form. If you send details of a reel, someone from allbutnew replies by email with an offer or a straight no. You are free to sell it anywhere else until you accept.
What we are not
Not affiliated with Abu Garcia, Penn, Mitchell, Pflueger, Zebco, Shakespeare, Daiwa, or any of their current or former parent companies. Not affiliated with, or authorised to represent, eBay or Amazon.
Returns, refunds, and disputes
Purchases from a listing happen on eBay (or Amazon), between you and the seller. We are not a party to the transaction. Returns, refunds, item-not-as-described claims and shipping disputes are handled through the platform's buyer-protection programme. Contact the seller first, then escalate through the platform's resolution system if the seller does not respond.
Privacy and cookies
We use Vercel Analytics to understand which pages readers find useful. It is cookieless and does not track individual readers across sessions. eBay and Amazon set their own cookies once you are on their sites; their policies apply there.
Contact
See the about page for contact channels. We respond to corrections and broken-link reports.
