Vintage PENN 710z SPINFISHER SPINNING REEL
$50.00 + $14.10 shipping
Plain used reel at $64.10, half the price of the rest; ask whether the line pickup is smooth.

The 710Z is a mid-size Penn Spinfisher, a smaller sibling of the 704 for jetty, inshore and light surf fishing.
Whether a 710Z has a bail or a manual pickup, the part that catches the line takes the most wear, and a grooved roller or weak bail spring will fray or drop line.
Price range is INFERRED from completed eBay listings; verify against current sold comps before bidding.
Only 5 complete 710Zs are listed; the rest of the search is handles, spools and bodies. That leaves a split market: one plain used reel at $64 delivered and three at $144–256, all boxed or new old stock. Many 710Zs have been converted to manual pickup (no bail to break), which keeps them in demand with surf and jetty anglers, so check which setup a listing has. Used working reels are worth roughly $65–100, so the boxed used reel at $165 makes little sense next to the $144 new-in-box one. Fishers should take the $64 reel; collectors should prefer the $144 new-in-box reel over the $256 NOS one.

$64.10 delivered ($50 plus $14.10 shipping) on Buy It Now from a 100% feedback seller: the only used 710Z priced near what a working one is worth. The title makes no condition claim, so ask whether the line pickup (bail or manual-pickup pin) works smoothly and the anti-reverse holds before buying.
Vintage PENN 710z SPINFISHER SPINNING REEL

Less than half the price of every other complete 710Z here, at the bottom of the typical band. Even after a clean and fresh drag washers, it costs well under the boxed reels. There's no tested claim, so ask for photos of the rotor and line pickup.
Vintage PENN 710z SPINFISHER SPINNING REEL

Listed as brand new in the box at $143.59 delivered, so there's nothing to service: spool line and fish. The seller has 100% feedback. Ask for photos of the reel out of the box to confirm there's no wear on the line pickup or foot.

See all current listings on eBay ⟶The 710Z is a mid-size Penn Spinfisher, a smaller sibling of the 704 for jetty, inshore and light surf fishing. Penn first made the green 710 in 1966 and introduced the black 710Z in the mid-1970s, building it until 2001.
It is a simple, tough reel with a single bearing and a gear ratio a little over 3½-to-1, and both the 710 and the 710Z can be set up either with a bail or as a manual-pickup reel using Penn's conversion kit. Many surf and jetty anglers run them bail-less because there is less to break, and listings often describe the 710Z as a manual-pickup reel, so check which setup a reel actually has.
Complete 710Zs are scarce: our latest snapshot found only five, against many listings for handles, spools and bodies. Boxed and new-in-box reels still surface at $130 to $250, while used working reels are worth about $65 to $100, so pass on used asks well above that.
